Why Do Textile testing?

Textile testing is the term for a whole series of tests that examine the physical, mechanical and chemical properties of textiles. These tests are sometimes done before a textile goes into widespread use, or they're done on textiles arriving from other countries for sale in US markets. Countries like the United States have established standards for what should and should not be in textile products. Tests can show whether companies making textiles are in compliance or not.

Why do such tests? Textile testing can ensure that a given textile is what a manufacturer or importer says it is. Sometimes, testing is done while textiles are being manufactured, to identify problems or faults in the machinery making them, and to double-check that materials being used for a specific textile are appropriate.

There are six reasons why we need do Textile testing. The reasons list as follows:
First.Research Work: Test of the textiles helps the authority to decide the next route.
Second.Selection of Raw Materials: During textiles testing the variation of a fibre or fabric i.e. length, color, fineness (in case of textile fibre), threads per inch, cover factor (in case of textile fabric), is detected properly. Thus proper raw materials are selected properly.
Third. Process Control: Certain standard level should be maintained to control increase of waste, rise of cost etc. By textile testing we can easily detect the faults of machinery and materials during test of textiles.
Fourth. Process Development: Research Institute, pilot plants can achieve process development through testing or exact investigation into better, cheaper and quicker methods.
Fifth. Search for effective productivity: Continuous test of the textiles results a enhanced and efficient output of the production.
Sixth.Specification Test: To meet up the customer requirement, specification is very useful. In this concept, testing plays a vital role.
