What are the commonly used instruments for textile softness testing?
Textile softness test is a requirement for some special material textiles, especially like baby products and pajamas and underwear and other types of textiles, the softness of which have clear testing standards, currently on the market for testing the softness of textiles test textile mainly have: touch with the hand (commonly known as touch test), just flexible tester, stiffness tester, textile softness tester, etc., this article ZD for you ZD introduces the following softness testers for textiles.
Relevant standards.
JIS L 1076, JAPAN TAPPI No.34, ASTM D2923-06
Uses/benefits.
This tester is suitable for evaluating the stiffness and flexibility of textile products (especially silk, cotton and chemical fibres), paper products such as tissue paper and plastic films of various nature. The tester is manufactured in accordance with the Japanese Industrial Standard JIS L 1096 General Textile Test Method (stiffness and flexibility: E method).
The test piece is laid out on a test bench with a fine slot and the softness of the test piece is evaluated by measuring the resistance (g) that occurs when the blade on the tester presses the piece into the slot to a certain depth (8 mm).
Unlike other softness measurement methods, this method is characterised by the fact that the test piece slides on the test bench several times as it is pressed into the fine groove, so the measured value is a combination of the sliding friction and the resistance force (softness) at the time of pressing in.
Remark.
*After the test piece has been installed, the measurement operation can be carried out easily and quickly by simply pressing the start button.
*The calibration sequence shown on the display makes calibration easy and accurate.
*The measured values and the average of any number of returns can be printed out on the printer.

Fabric stiffness tester.
Application:
The instrument is suitable for stiffness and flexibility testing of various types of woven, knitted and general non-woven and coated textiles such as cotton, wool, silk, linen and chemical fibres, and also for stiffness and flexibility testing of flexible materials such as paper, leather and film.
Applicable standards.
GB/T18318.1-2009 "Textiles Determination of bending length of fabrics
ZB W04003-87 "Fabric stiffness test method Inclined cantilever method" recommended instrument.
Features of the instrument
The infra-red light beam forms an "invisible" testing inclined surface, replacing the traditional tangible inclined surface to achieve contactless testing, overcoming the problem of the measurement accuracy being affected by the twisting of the specimen held up by the inclined surface. It also makes it possible to adjust the angle of inclination of the measurement.
The automatic inspection system overcomes the disadvantages of visual inspection and increases the resistance to interference. The automatic lifting and lowering of the specimen platen guarantees the accuracy and consistency of the positioning of the platen and the specimen and improves the working efficiency.

Textile softness tester.
Scope of application.
The softness of the material is objectively evaluated by testing its softness value. It is suitable for testing the softness of fabrics, textiles, non-woven fabrics, toilet paper products, leather and other soft materials in sheet form. It is also possible to test the elasticity/viscoelasticity/plasticity, top breakage, compressibility, basis weight and thickness of the specimen using different accessories.
Test significance.
1、To ensure the quality of the product during production;
2、Optimisation of product properties;
3. To ensure quality control of products of the same grade in the production process.
Where available.
1. Process optimisation: If one of the test parameters is used, the process can be optimised to bring the product up to the required standard.
2. Quality management: The test data are stored in the computer and the results of the samples already tested can be viewed at any time using the software.
3. Problem solving: If there is a customer complaint, it can be verified whether the complaint is within normal limits. If so, the process should be improved in order to reduce customer complaints in the future
4. Benchmark analysis: test data of a product is used as standard data and comparative analysis is carried out with similar products.
5. Research and development: new product development, improvement of product characteristics
Principle of the instrument.
The new softness measurement method works on the following principle: The main components of the instrument are a rotor, a vibration sensor and a number of other sensors for collecting additional data and controlling the instrument functions. For the measurement, the rotor is pressed against the specimen and starts to rotate when the rotor reaches its Z final position. The contact between the rotor and the specimen causes the specimen to vibrate. These vibration signals are received by the vibration sensors and passed on to the analysis unit. The analysis unit transmits the pre-prepared data to the computer. The computer then processes this data by means of complex calculations. Using a complex formula, the softness values are calculated by synchronising the further parameters measured with the parameters entered in advance by the customer (Zda can use a maximum of 68 different parameters).
