Paper Tearing Strength Tester Test steps:

1. Raise the pendulum to its initial position and fix it with the pendulum release mechanism, placing one half of the specimen facing the knife and the other half facing the knife on the opposite side;

2. The side edges of the specimen should be neat and the bottom edge should be in contact with the bottom of the clamp and clamped correctly;

3. Use the cutter to cut a neat cut into the specimen and return the cutter to its resting position;

4. Make contact between the pointer and the pointer stop, quickly press down on the release device of the pendulum and gently grasp it with your hand when the pendulum is swinging back and does not interfere with the position of the pointer;

5. Hold the pointer at eye level with the operator and read the pointer reading or the digital display;

6. Release the clamp to remove the torn specimen and return the pendulum and pointer to the initial position in preparation for the next measurement;

7. When 1 or 2 specimens in the test have a deflection of more than 10mm from the end of the tear line to the left or right of the knife extension, the test should be discarded;

8. Repeat the test until 5 satisfactory results are obtained;

9. If more than two specimens are deflected by more than 10 mm, the results may be retained but the deflection should be noted in the report;

10. If, during tearing, the specimen produces a glassy phenomenon rather than tearing in the normal orientation, the tear deflection should be treated as described above.
