AATCC Spray Water Repellency Tester Test Method
AATCC standard is applicable to any textile fabric, regardless of whether it has been treated with water repellency. This standard can measure the water wetting resistance of fabrics, and is particularly suitable for textiles treated with water repellency, especially plain woven fabrics.
Because this instrument is simple and portable, and the test procedure is relatively concise, this standard is particularly suitable for factory product control. Since this standard cannot measure the performance of water droplets penetrating into the fabric, it is recommended not to use this standard to evaluate the rain penetration performance of waterproof fabrics.
The test results of this standard are related to the water repellency and wetting properties of the finishing of fibers, yarns and fabrics, and have little to do with the structure of the fabric.
Shanghai Qianshi Precision Electromechanical Technology Co., Ltd. was established in 2012, focusing on the research and development, design and production of textile testing instruments, providing textile testing instruments and services for academic research units and testing institutions. Shanghai Qianshi is currently one of the most competitive and R&D textile testing instrument manufacturers in China. The R&D team is composed of a group of experienced engineers. We are committed to serving customers wholeheartedly and striving to promote technological innovation in textile testing instruments.
Principle of test:
Under specified conditions and procedures, water is sprayed on a stretched sample to form a wet pattern on its surface, the size of which is related to the water repellency of the fabric. The evaluation result is determined by comparing it with the standard pattern.
Experimental instruments:
AATCC spray water repellency tester, 250 ml measuring cylinder, deionized water
Experimental methods:
(1) Fix the 180X180mm test sample tightly on a ring with a diameter of 152mm to make its surface smooth and without free wrinkles.
(2) Place the ring with the fabric on the bracket of the test instrument so that the center of the nozzle is aligned with the center of the ring.
(3) Let the warp direction of the fabric follow the direction of the water droplets on the fabric surface, add 250ml of wa`ter at 27±1℃ into the funnel of the funnel test instrument, let it spray in 25-30s, and avoid contact with the funnel when adding liquid. The movement of the funnel will change the relative position of the nozzle and the fabric.
(4) The spraying time must be controlled within 25-30 seconds, otherwise the small holes should be checked for expansion or blockage.
(5) Hold one side of the ring and tap the opposite side of the ring with a hard object, with the test sample facing the object, then turn the ring 180 degrees and repeat the above action once.
Assessment level:
(1) 100 points: The upper surface is not wet or moistened;
(2) 90 points: There is a small amount of water on the upper surface, irregularly wet or moistened;
(3) 80 points: The upper surface is moistened at the spraying point;
(4) 70 points: The entire upper surface is partially moistened;
(5) 50 points: The entire upper surface is *moistened;
(6) 0 points: The entire upper surface is partially moistened and the surface sinks.
