Operation of Bed Blanket Flammability Tester
The Bed Blanket Flammability Tester complies with the relevant test standards of ASTM D4151 and is used to test the flame-retardant properties of plush fabrics such as bed blankets. The sample and test paper mounted on the sample fixture is ignited with a standard flame for 1 second to complete the test. The sample is rated by observing the changes in the test paper.

Test principle:
Within the specified time, the surface of the sample is burned with a standardized flame, so as to observe the burning, damage, or discoloration of the standard test paper, and then the test fabric.
Main structure:
(1) Flow meter: adjust the gas flow rate.
(2) Flame tube: The gas is first connected to the flow meter through a hose, and then passes through the hose at the rear of the box into the flame tube.
(3) Windshield: Glass is placed on the upper part of the windshield. The test is carried out in a fume hood, and the round hole on the top of the box and the gap on the windshield allows the gas to form convection.
(4) Control panel: Power-power switch; Start: Start the internal motor, and after the flame tube moves to the test position (the vertical distance from the center of the sample is 8mm, and the horizontal distance is 3.2mm), the internal timing switch is triggered; Reset: Timer reset/fire tube reset.
(5) Sample fixture and sample rack. There is a knob on the sample rack base plate that can adjust the left and right movement. By loosening and tightening the knob, the sample rack base plate can be moved and fixed.
(6) Timer: Displays the set and actual ignition time. The fire tube can only complete the required movement after the timer is reset, otherwise, the fire tube cannot return to the initial position after moving forward.
Operation steps:
1. Place the assembled and dried sample (sample fixture) on the sample rack.
Tip: If the sample has been pre-treated, the test operation should be started at this time. The standard stipulates that the test should be started within 30 seconds after the sample is taken out of the dryer.
2. Turn on the main power of the instrument to the on state. Set the ignition time to 1s on the timer and start the test
Press the start button of the instrument to start the instrument, the burner ignites, the flame impact starts and the timer starts automatically. Test 5 samples (front or back) continuously, and conduct subsequent tests after the other 5 samples are dried.
Tip: Before the test, make sure that the sample has been correctly installed on the test rack and that the correct automatic flame impact time has been set to 1s.
