BS 5852 Fire Tester Fire Test Stand
The BS 5852 fire test stand is suitable for the flammability evaluation of cushioned seats, seat fabrics, linings, and filling materials. The BS 5852 fire tester is ideal for all kinds of flame-retardant woven fabrics, knitted fabrics, coated products, laminated products, etc. used as seat fabrics, especially the determination of the flammability of sofa seat fabrics and lining fabrics. It can also be used for flame retardant performance testing of leather, synthetic leather, and other furniture leathers.

Applicable standards:
UK Regulation: British Standard
BS 5852: British furniture fabric combustion performance test standard
CFR 1634: American soft furniture fire test standard
Test end conditions:
Follow the following rules when the product burns:
The flame should be extinguished immediately when it is almost completely burned out.
The burning material should melt within the specified time.
The temperature of the heating platform cannot exceed 250 degrees Celsius.
The flame cannot last for more than 10 seconds (depending on the fire source and test requirements).
In extreme cases, when the temperature of the test sample exceeds 500 degrees Celsius, the test should be terminated immediately.
Classification of test results:
According to the test results, the test results can be divided into three types: normal, warning, and failure:
Normal: Meet the relevant safety indicators of BS 5852.
Warning: Failed to meet the normal situation, but still able to meet the safety indicators.
Failure: Failed to meet the safety indicators.
Specific fire source test details:
In BS5852, a variety of specific fire source tests are also defined, such as:
No. 0 fire source: smoldering cigarette, the test material has no afterburning and no smoldering within 2 minutes.
No. 1 fire source: burning butane flame, the test material has no afterburning and no smoldering within 2 minutes.
No. 5 fire source: burning wood blocks, the test sample is not burned more than 50%, and the sponge is not melted through.
These tests ensure the fire resistance of furniture when exposed to different fire sources.
