F150A Textile Flame Spread Tester Operation Steps

F150A Textile Flame Spread Tester is suitable for the determination of vertical flame spread performance of textiles of single-component or multi-component (coating, quilting, multi-layer, sandwich products, and similar combinations) clothing, film, curtains and draperies and large tents including awnings and door covers, and is used to evaluate the performance of materials or material combinations after contact with flames under laboratory control conditions.

Technical parameters:


1. Ignition timing: 0-99.99 seconds, arbitrarily set.


2. Afterburning time, smoldering time and flame spread time timer: 0-99.99 seconds, accuracy: ±0.01 seconds.


3. Flame height: 10-60mm adjustable.


4. Flame height measuring device: 40mm high.


5. Sample holder: 560mm high rectangular frame.


6. Use gas: industrial propane or butane gas.


7. Sample size: 560mm×170mm.

Operation steps:


First: prepare the accessories and test samples;


Open the heat-resistant glass observation window;


Turn on the instrument power switch to enter the LCD screen operation interface;


Turn on the lighting and exhaust switches;


Wrap the cotton thread around three fixed racks;


Hang the fixture with the sample on the sample rack and fix it;


Align the three cotton threads with the scale marks and pass them through the lead ring;


Hang the weights on the other end of the line and hang them on the three sensors;


Set the number, ignition time, and other parameters on the LCD screen;


Click [Ignition];


Light up the blowtorch;


The flame size can be adjusted through the knob on the instrument panel;


Put the blowtorch down at the angle required for the test ;


Push the blowtorch along the track;


The sample is ignited;


When it burns to the first scale, the cotton thread burns off and the weight falls on the sensor;


The time of mark 1 is obtained;


When it burns to the second scale, the cotton thread burns off and the weight falls on the sensor;


The time of mark 2 is obtained;


When it burns to the third scale, the cotton thread burns off and the weight falls on the sensor;


The time of mark 3 is obtained;


Press the timing key on the panel to observe the ignition of the sample;


The flame goes out, the timing ends, and the value is obtained;


Click [Print] to obtain the test data;


Save to view the data;


Analyze and compare the data obtained in the test to evaluate the fire spread performance of the material.
