Carpet Tile Thickness Gauge

The Carpet Tile Thickness Gauge has been designed to directly measure the total thickness of a carpet tile. The sample is placed between the two pressure plates, select the suitable pressure accroding to the structure of the sample, then the distance of the two plates could be read on the gauge.

Standards: BS 5920: 1980 (1996), BS 5921 (1996)

Product Information:
Standard tile sizes of up to 2000mm2 can be testedon this unit. Additional sizes are available on request.
The tile is mounted on a rigid steel sample plate with raised edge guides, readings are taken at each corner.
An optional data recorder(TTG:DTA) is available, which calculates mean values of readings.

Testing method:

  1. Plate the sample on the fixed lower plate with the usage side upwards and lie flatly. Slowly down the upper plate with a horseshoe located on its center position until contact with the sample.
  2. The pile thickness can be read directly from the digital gauge after applying a standard pressure for 5s.
  3. Test 5 specimens in each sample unless otherwise specified.
  4. Record the measured value of each specimen with an accuracy of 0.01mm.
